SIMULATION OF THE ATMOSPHERIC TRANSPORT OF SULPHUR DIOXIDE AND PARTICULATE SULPHATE IN THE ARCTIC.

Publication details

Publication type: Research report

Series: NILU OR (NILU Oppdragsrapport), 83/86

Publisher: NILU

Summary:

A model for simulation for long range transport of sulphur dioxide and sulphate is applied to estimate the contribution to Arctic sulphur pollution from four main source areas. In general, North American sources are estimated to contribute to pollution at 3000-5000 m. European sources at 2000-4000 m and Soviet sources at 1000-3000 m. In the warm season, the vertical screening between source contributions is less pronounced than during the cold season.
