Summary:

The emission of gaseous compounds as SO2, Cl2, HCl, NH3 and HNO3 in addition to small particles are all of a great importance in the formation of haze in the Grenland region. Model calculations of the haze formation and transport have been performed, using emissions from 1985, 1988, and 1991. A reduction of the emissions of NH3, Cl2 and small particles has caused a reduction of the haze formation, estimated at 61% for a wintersituation, and about 50% in summersituation with haze formation in the sea-breeze front.
