This also includes increasing knowledge about plant protection product use and how it may affect field margin vegetation and nearby habitats and biodiversity, as well as the ecosystem services provided by beneficial insects, such as pollination and biological pest control. The primary target group for the project is users of plant protection products and producers, as the knowledge generated by the project may help increase awareness and understanding of these issues among those who are directly affected by the reduction of these beneficial insect populations. Furthermore, the project may provide knowledge that agricultural authorities and public administration can use in developing measures to reduce the environmental footprint of agriculture. We aim to collect regular samples of air, vegetation, and topsoil in field margins in apple orchards over two growing seasons in three to four fruit-growing sites in Western Norway. The air samples are planned to be collected using passive samplers in order to provide a picture of the average airborne exposure over the course of a season. In addition, hoverflies will be collected in the field margins both to provide an overview of common species groups and to analyze the flies for plant protection products. The expected outcome is new knowledge about the extent to which unsprayed areas outside the field are actually exposed to plant protection products during a growing season, the concentrations involved, and the effects this may have on populations of beneficial insects in these field margins. The project findings may also provide a basis for assessing the effectiveness of current measures aimed at preventing the unwanted spread of plant protection products into such areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-90282","nva_project","type-nva_project","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/nva_project\/90282","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/nva_project"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/nva_project"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=90282"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
