NILU\u2019s Health Effects Group has implemented GLP as standard quality system to perform, develop and validate methods for in vitro toxicity testing of compounds such as chemicals, aerosols and nanomaterials.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Testing strategies on trial <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The latter compound needs special attention: \u201cSo far, testing of nanomaterials has no specific regulations,\u201d explains senior scientist Maria Dusinska, director of the Health Effects Laboratories (HEL) at NILU. \u201cThey are tested according to the guidelines for toxicity testing of standard chemicals. But nanomaterials have completely different properties and behaviour compared to traditional substances. This requires special routines and protocols for giving reliable results, as well as for the workers\u2019 safety, in which the HEL group has already several years of experience.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Norwegian pioneer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In Norway there is no other GLP laboratory performing in vitro methods on human toxicity, so we have been working hard during the last months on developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that fulfill the requirements of GLP.\u201d With success: the HEL group has received the confirmation that their laboratories are certified for GLP.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3260 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P1090255_800.jpg\" alt=\"Skilt: GLP stydy ongoing\" width=\"800\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P1090255_800.jpg 800w, https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P1090255_800-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nilu.gnist.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P1090255_800-768x559.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Som f&#248;rste laboratorium i Norge har NILUs Helseeffektlaboratorium (HEL) blitt GLP-sertifisert i henhold til testmetoder for menneskerelaterte toksisitet.
