Yvan Joseph Orsolini

Dr. Yvan Orsolini begynte ved NILU i mars 1998 som seniorforsker ved Kjeller, Norge. 

Han tok sin mastergrad i atmosfærisk vitenskap fra University of Illinois (Urbana, USA) og hans doktorgrad er i geofysikk fra University of Washington (Seattle, USA). Han har jobbet med dynamikk, kjemi og fjernmåling av midtatmosfæren og spesielt med jordens ozonlag og solens strålings- og partikkelpåvirkning på atmosfæren. 

Et annet forskningsområde er interaksjon mellom kryosfære og atmosfære, spesielt rollen til snø og havis i klimasystemet og i sesongprediksjoner. 

Han har lang erfaring med å jobbe med generelle sirkulasjonsmodeller, enten kun atmosfære eller koblede hav-atmosfæremodeller, inkludert helatmosfæremodeller (som WACCM) som strekker seg inn i den nedre termosfæren, samt med sesongprediksjonssystemer. Han har også bidratt til analyse av en rekke satellitt-fjernmålingsdatasett (UARS, SABER, ENVISAT, MLS, SOFIE,…), og atmosfæriske reanalyser angående dynamikk eller sammensetning. 

Han har koordinert ett europeisk prosjekt og flere prosjekter i Norges forskningsråd på vegne av NILU, samtidig som han har deltatt i en rekke andre prosjekter. Han var tilknyttet Universitetet i Bergen på deltid (20 %) (2010-2020) og ved NTNU (2020-2023). 

Hans h-indeks er 40, med over 5000 siteringer (Google Scholar).

Dr. Yvan Orsolini begynte ved NILU i mars 1998 som seniorforsker ved Kjeller, Norge. 

Han tok sin mastergrad i atmosfærisk vitenskap fra University of Illinois (Urbana, USA) og hans doktorgrad er i geofysikk fra University of Washington (Seattle, USA). Han har jobbet med dynamikk, kjemi og fjernmåling av midtatmosfæren og spesielt med jordens ozonlag og solens strålings- og partikkelpåvirkning på atmosfæren. 

Et annet forskningsområde er interaksjon mellom kryosfære og atmosfære, spesielt rollen til snø og havis i klimasystemet og i sesongprediksjoner. 

Han har lang erfaring med å jobbe med generelle sirkulasjonsmodeller, enten kun atmosfære eller koblede hav-atmosfæremodeller, inkludert helatmosfæremodeller (som WACCM) som strekker seg inn i den nedre termosfæren, samt med sesongprediksjonssystemer. Han har også bidratt til analyse av en rekke satellitt-fjernmålingsdatasett (UARS, SABER, ENVISAT, MLS, SOFIE,…), og atmosfæriske reanalyser angående dynamikk eller sammensetning. 

Han har koordinert ett europeisk prosjekt og flere prosjekter i Norges forskningsråd på vegne av NILU, samtidig som han har deltatt i en rekke andre prosjekter. Han var tilknyttet Universitetet i Bergen på deltid (20 %) (2010-2020) og ved NTNU (2020-2023). 

Hans h-indeks er 40, med over 5000 siteringer (Google Scholar).
