Dr. Wenche Aas har en doktorgrad i uorganisk kjemi og jobber med forskning på atmosfærens kjemiske sammensetning og langtransportert luftforurensning. Hun er ansvarlig for det norske overvåkningsprogrammet for langtransportert grenseoverskridende luftforurensning på vegne av Miljødirektoratet og Klima- og miljødepartementet.
Hun koordinerer arbeidet ved Chemical Coordinating Centre (CCC) ved NILU innenfor det europeiske overvåkings- og evalueringsprogrammet EMEP under langtransportkonvensjonen (CLRTAP) i FN.
Dr. Aas er medlem av Scientific Advisory Group for Total Atmospheric Deposition (SAG-TAD) og Measurement-Model Fusion for Global Total Atmospheric Deposition (MMF-GTAD) innenfor WMO/GAW-rammeverket. Hun er også styremedlem i SIOS.
